Help! I’m in a Conflict (Booklet)

“These little books are directly targeted to the issues that we all face and they hit the bulls-eye. They are faithful to Scripture and they demonstrate insight into its application. Churches need to make these available for their congregations.” — John MacArthur

If I found myself in an unresolved relational conflict, one of the first people I would reach out to is Dr. Ernie Baker. In Help! I’m in a Conflict, Ernie combines his pastoral heart, his biblical counseling wisdom, and his conflict resolution experience to offer a robust and relevant biblical approach to conflict resolution. He diagnoses the heart issues and prescribes a gospel-centered mindset for becoming an ambassador of reconciliation—in our conflicted relationships. This is a book that every pastor, biblical counselor, conflict resolution mediator, and every person experiencing conflict needs to have, read, and apply.
Robert W. Kellemen, Ph.D., Executive Director, Biblical Counseling Coalition, Author of Gospel-Centered Counseling: How Christ Changes Lives

“Writing from personal and pastoral experience, Ernie Baker brings biblical wisdom to the difficult topic of relational conflict and calls us to practice Christ-centered attitudes and actions to seek reconciliation.”
Robert Jones, Southeastern Seminary, author of “Pursuing Peace”

“Dr. Baker’s mini-series book, HELP! I’m in Conflict provides timeless biblical truths for conflict resolution along with contemporary examples of their application. His personal transparency and winsome approach to the oft’ times difficult topic helps the reader engage the material with introspection. I very much appreciate the deep use of Scripture, not as a hammer but rather the message of hope and truth. This very quick read does not require a theologian’s mind or degree but it is quite relevant to pastors, counselors, theologians and the rest of us broken vessels. I heartily recommend it.”
Dale Pyne, CEO Peacemaker Ministries www.peacemaker.net

“In a fallen world full of anger, hatred and fighting, we need help to figure out how to sort through the mess. Thank you, Ernie Baker, for providing a biblically sound treatment of a very hard topic—conflict.”
—Deepak Reju, Ph. D, Pastor of Biblical Counseling and Families, Capitol Hill Baptist Church (Washington, DC), Author of “The Pastor and Counseling: The Basics of Shepherding Members in Need”

“In his helpful booklet, “Help! I’m in a Conflict,” Ernie Baker raises the following questions: “How are we supposed to respond to others when we are in conflict?” “What kind of guidance can the Bible give us?” “What practical steps should we take if we’re experiencing relationship difficulty?” After asking these questions, Ernie gives thoughtful help, transparently revealing his struggles in conflict, and giving hope to those who feel lost in problems they don’t know how to resolve.
Steve Viars , D.Min. Senior Pastor, Faith Ministries, Lafayette, IN

A mini book helping people who are experiencing loneliness, as well as those who care for them.

The Questions That Are Addressed Include:

Sleepless nights, loss of appetite, broken relationships, and emotions going crazy with anger, bitterness, and anxiety: all are symptoms of times of conflict. Unfortunately, churches and Christians are not immune. How are we supposed to respond to others when we are in conflict? What kind of guidance can the Bible give us? Does gospel-grounded truth address tension in our relationships? What practical steps should we take if we’re experiencing relationship difficulty? These are some of the questions this mini-book will answer.

Target audience and purpose of the mini-book: This mini book is written for anyone who is feeling tensions in relationships. These general, gospel-saturated, principles help the individual apply biblical thinking to resolving conflict. In particular, Ephesians 4:1-3, in light of the context of the book of Ephesians, are applied to having healthy relationships and healing of tensions in relationships.

We also explore what is going on in our hearts (using the biblical term) that makes the gentleness and kindness commanded in this passage feel so unnatural rather than our normal response. The mini-book is a real life look at the hurts that come during relational conflict but saturated with the confidence that biblical principles work to bring healing. Many of the personal application projects focus on understanding what is being worshiped in the heart/inner person during inevitable conflict.
